I used 1/4" - two layers on top of the existing 2 layers of 3/8"... it's super quiet and very solid.

The main problem I ran into was the 1/4" starting to crack when trying to bend it lengthwise. I used a little water to soften it up and it worked great. I wish I would have gone with 1/2" ply tho. But I wasnt sure it would be able to bend that much to the tranny.

We just had some rain and it looks pretty ugly. I put some water sealer down. Hopefully that will help. Tho a tarp would probably be the best defense.

Just finished it today. @greg, your supposed to bend the wood with the grain and then it is easier and doesnt crack.

but when you bend it with the grain, I saw that as it wears it tends to splinter really bad. Plus, then you have a bad seam right at the tranny.

I was able to get the 1/4" to bend lengthwise, and it then gave me at least a foot into the flat for a perfectly smooth tranny. And it seems alot faster because you're moving with the grain instead of against it, feeling all the grain against the hard wheels.

Man- I am wayyyyy late on this thread but I have one tip that is tried and true for keeping ramps dry. Drill several small holes in the flat-all the way through the bottom. Glue drinking straws or small metal sleeves in the holes and seal around them the best you can. This allows any water or condensation collecting in the flat to drain eliminating warping. Seal ALL the seams and countersink the screws as well.

I want to re sheet my ramp this summer and I was looking at skate lite can anyone give me the lowdown on this shit? My ramp is outdoors and we are in Canada my husband rigs a tarp for my ramp in the winter so she is dry and snow free all winter and YES my ramp is off the ground. I know skate lite is big $$$$ but will it last more then 10 of our winters in Canada ?

One of the OG crew in Nashvile used Skaters Blend for his midiramp. I think he said its the best for the budget.

But for the real deal, you gotta go steel.

We have a resurrection going on right now... Getting ready to surface Phaze One of the Red Bank Ramp tomorrow. It'll get the drilled steel from the old Wall skatepark in Dalton, GA. From about 88-89. Geno, builder of the ramp, said Tony Alvarez (Zorlac) came out of that park, and David Gardner was one of the top vert guys around the area.

I will go read on Skaters Blend as well thanks.
I just want to find something that will last a long time. As it sits now I re sheet every 2 or 3 years. But I baby my ramp sweep rain off etc. and we have a way to tarp it in the winter with no snow or water ever touching it. Big tent it looks like in the winter.

that was a sick looking ramp you have there sk8goddess! What is the top sheet now? Looks painted.

I'm gonna have to start covering mine too ... we just has 6" of snow in Michigan (what the hell!) ... now we're looking at a lot of rain. The ramp is holding up OK, but it's still taking a beating.

Thank you I made the ramp myself It has masonite on it now no paint on the masonite at all Just that masonite is on its 2nd year So I have to re sheet in the next few weeks It looks like I will go with the masonite again as to try and get sk8 lite or anything else is big $$$ in Canada and by the time I get it sent to me it would be fall lol.
My husband was the one who got my ramp to stay dry all winter he did a kick ass job. He had the tarps raised off the ramp and made a big tent with a very steep top so the snow just rolled off for the most part, but we spent over $200 just on tarps The whole ramp was covered top sides everything so it was nice and safe all winter and it made a huge ass difference

Here's an insurance question:

I'm about to change home-owner's insurance companies and they are coming out to look at the house. I have a mini-ramp AND a trampoline.

Has anyone's insurance been jacked up for having a ramp/trampoline?
