i think i was asking,i m out here in santa cruz,and ran into jim phillips,a friend of mine and me opened a tattoo shop down here.my friend bought a screaming hand painting from the boardwalk,annyways jim ended up coming in,and i had all my hosoi decks on the wall,he was trippin on the hosoi monk.he said he hasn t seen one since when they were suppose to come out.i told him that these were suppose to have been blessed by him,he didn t know anything about it.he didnt know about the 14 or shit.anyways i don t know were the story came from but ,jim didn t know....but jim did decide to do me a great favor and paint this for me last nov..my grail......

the second hand information that i got was, that a forum member purchased the original art from phillips and then, yes with jim's approval gave the go ahead.
i'm not sure, it's all urban legend at this point.  |

the paintings is like 5 ft tall.and the rest of the story,
jim said jay novach has the original art on the monk,he said when th decks first came out there were several of them they sent them over to him to check out..there isn t a monk at the santa cruz boardroom.there is a hell of collection,it s a forum member here collection.my buddy did go up to the santa cruz main office warehouse.with jim he said novack has a big room with all jims paitnings,he said there is a huge gym like room with like 5000 decks on it.slasher prototypes fuckin everything.they do have the grosso demon original art at the boardroom.anyways jim painted the monk in like 3-4 weeks,he said he stayed in his garage the hole time.jim ended up getting really sick and put in the hospital,when he got out he was still down for a while,when he got better,my buddy asked him if he would do a grosso demon for him.jim told him he was through painting.i went to the boardroom and they said he was through.whats fucked to me is that the monk was one of his last decks then,and now the monk was his last painting.he said he did the monk after some 17th-18th century painting,he said the monk is completely different than the original though.and he is cool as fan.... |

I'm pretty sure I know whose collection that is and yes, he is a member here. Gave me a deck out of the blue once. If everything I've heard is true, he has one of the most jaw-dropping collections of all time. But.....he couldn't get me a stinger.  |

I hope SC puts the Monk out finally. I'll buy 2.
I had one of the 14 made at one point and although really nicely done, it just felt like a repro so I got rid of it. If SC made it would be official.
Goon I hope you can get it made, if not, thanks for trying. I bought the snowboard SC made years back with the graphic. |
