Yeah it didn't take long to decide the Lucero was the my fave one available. The Alva faded stains are rad too.
Was never a big fan of Powells, XT black paper ruined their reputation with me back in the day, a mate had a white and pink Cab DnB. I disliked the ride so much I wasn't even aware until recently that they ditched the XT pretty quick and got back to normal wood like SC and the rest. |

OK i thought fk it, and started to build up the Powell.. went and bought some white G-Bones last night... soooo overpriced here in AUS ($80 AUD = $75 USD) just like everything else.. saw a Vision Psycho Stick Re-Issue in the store also - $175 AUD (170 USD) !!! and they are what about $55 USD over in the states ??
anyway I got home, squeezed in the Bones Redz bearings and whacked them onto the Orange Gullwings.. test-fitted the trucks - need to re-drill old-school holes tonight and then fit my griptape ready to hit the sk8 park on saturday night afte a couple of brews
any hints on re-drilling the holes ? last time I did it on my popsicle board they were slightly off I think..
will post pics once she's all complete |

OK I finally re-drilled old-school size holes to suit the Gullwings and went about setting it all up.. was so much fun HAHA.
I traced the logo onto the griptape and tried to cut it to match the design and not leave too much deck exposed:
Then got a Blade to trim the edges of the griptape.. the result a nice clean shape I havnt seen for 20+ years !!
Personally I think the Orange Gullwings were a nice choice though perhaps not Bones-Brigade correct ? I am not sure who Cab's Truck sponsor was back then..
When I got my Alva back in 1986, The first decal I slapped on was a white Powell Perala RAT BONES in the exact same spot on the tail:
I think the decal sets off the White G-Bones nicely.. am trying to get a set of white Mini Rib-Bones to match..
Tommorow we hit the sk8park |

ooh I love those Duane Peters fatties !! and yeah I was bummed about those Black DnB after I saw it after just having bought the silver.. but am planning one one or more other completes also.. want to get a nice Santa cruz and a Vision completes and then perhaps will venture into NOS collecting
I am thinking the kids gonna look at us funny too when at the sk8 park LOL but THAT is the point - gotta educate these kids as to what a Boneless Boost is |

well I took the caballero for a fang on the street last night when walking the dog with my GF.. the thing is awsome !! so fast compared to my popsicle.. was carving up a couple of hilly streets etc..
It was so funny, I went and popped a boneless boost off a curb and my GF goes "ooh I like THAT manouver!!" HAHAHA..
attempted a couple of ollies but am having trouble as the new griptape is just too grippy LOL.. came off one and the board landed on it's edge and man some ninja chip/dings in the rail of the board from one relatively light tap on the rough-ish bitumen.. but shows me that the wood definately isnt as high quality as the old days..
but now she's blemished I dont have to worry and can just shred away and not worry about scratching it HAHAHA.. |
