Yeah, that's why I kinda feel bad saying they suck. I think it's the hype that sucks.
And Jeff, the Elvis Costello reference reminds me of another one....."later period EC!" Everyone can dig the first three, but rest are strictly for critics and oldies. Which is now me I guess, so I better get on those! |

I would say the first 5 are solid. The Geritol phase started with "Almost Blue" |

A good song is a good song.

Most of the shoegaze stuff seems more suited for older hipster types. Swervedriver is good though.
I was also bored by Failure in the 90s but like them now.
My Bloody Valentine has one good song: Only Shallow. And I have heard the "music made for headphones" rap. |

I still wonder if the Bowie thing will kick in for me - I tried again when he died. The new video was certainly haunting...
I started to get Beck a bit more - mainly from the wife groovin to Midnight Vultures...turn on the red light if that cd comes out. But his INXS take on Kick was terrible.
Who knew The Talking Heads had so many good songs you didn't know. I'm digging on them and writing a few tunes with them in mind.
Elvis Costello I also just can't get down to...I tried, too. He surrounds himself with amazing talent - and who wouldn't. I can appreciate purposeful snoozers, but think he's purposefully headlining the approach. |
