I'm skeptical but not unwilling to try it next time I'm across the pond.
Even if it's good alone, how could it not be better with more to it? You're proposing adding jelly to it--how great can it be by itself? |

Jelly and ice cream is a UK tradition that small children have at parties. The jelly isnt mixed with the ice cream, the ice cream is a companion with the jelly which is usually strawberry. And dont forget our jelly is highly concentrated with sugar to keep up our tooth decay. |

Isn't jelly in the UK more akin to Jello over here? |

You're dead right.
Our jelly is your jell-o.
Your jelly is our jam.
I like vanilla ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce. |

Eating monkeys, Cornish dairy vanilla or other species, is just wrong. |

Rootbeer floats are indeed grand...
BUT...
I defy you to top a Big Red Float.
Big Red is a regional soda, http://www.bigredltd.com/ Rumor has it John "Cougar" Mellencamp fell so much in love with it he had it sent to every tour destination.
It's not Strawberry, it's not Cherry...It just tastes red.
Come to Texas...I'll buy. |

GOB is right. I had forgotten-- probably to block out the pain of living somewhere without Big Red. |

OK jello and Icecream sounds different but tryable
Home made Preserves like blackberry and Bryers all natural vanilla is great
Big Red is an awesome soda I want to try a float with it now.
Big Red is like a CreamSoda only more red tasting if that makes sense?
best part is its a cheap soda like Faygo for you Juggalo fucko's
I have a friend who is Korean and she never even heard of a RootBeer Float before her and her boyfriend came over for one of my neighborhood BBQ's
Long story short after much experimentation and twenty lbs of new her for him to love she decided that Cream Soda floats were the best next to black Cherry and Orange, but Grape is ghetto fabulous
they stopped coming to my cookouts when I announced RiBS night apperently she never had a rib either.
but whenever I stop over she has a CreamSoda Float ready for me.
and he gives me the thanks alot............. like why didnt I give her her first peice of broccoli or something
I have been trying to convince her to have her family open a float stand back in Korea as you can't get anything like it there so the market would be cornered like. She says getting icecream made with milk is really hard to do there and the soystuff and soda would be gross
I agree about Vanilli being the blandest of flavors but I have never had Cornish whatever either so I am no real source of answers
It makes me wonder though how many other cultures never had a float.
or if there is other far more sinister bastard mutations of the float like made with gingerbeer or other horrible imposter soda type beverages like Tab
or Fresca |
