I've thought of doing older shapes but I come up with some problems

1) there aren't enough people who'd buy an old school shape. Granted there's a lot of guys on here but in the general public there aren't. Our grand goal with this is to break even. Quite the "grand" goal. I think the only way we'd be able to do that would be to market what's popular, and that's popscicles
2) custom shaping decks is expensive. I think it was a $500 set up fee for custom shapes at the woodshops I've talked to. I think the total amount of wood used is also a custom order. Most veneers are less than 8 inches wide now so to do an oldschool shape we'd have to get custom veneers as well.
3) I wanna make stuff I'd skate. I started skating after seeing Animal Chin and only got serious in the early 90's. Most fishtail, hammerheads, H-street taper noses and Zorlac shapes make me cringe. I currently skate a popscicle and it's probably the most functional shape I've ever had.
4) designing shapes takes skills that I don't have. In all likelihood I'd just end up finding a deck I like and tracing it... and I don't know how cool that is... or if that'd even work!
5) There's lots of olschool boards still out there that people can buy, and sometimes really cheap (eg Frankie Hill ear deck)
6) There's already a bunch of small companies making oldschool decks and now the bigger guys are even making older shapes so we wouldn't be the unique diamond amongst the coal of popscicles.... we'd just be another voice in the choir that sings songs that aren't particularly popular. At least with popscicles you're in harmony with most people humming "Possessed to skate" by suicidal tendencies.

.... so popscicles it is for now.

Now then... people don't like the name Wendigo. The name came about from trying to find something that had a unique ring to it, had a bit of a Canadian vibe, could lend itself to developing a cool mascot/character/logo, and oddly enough was a good "looking" word.

Can anybody think of a name that incorporates all of those aspects but that they like better? It's actually kinda hard!

Matt
