Was is common to get different variations on a set. When I got my Stage 2 in 87 I received one with the lizard and one with the sword. Blk

Very common.

In fact, I think I have never purchased a matching set out of the 20 or so sets I scored. Of two of those sets which were used completes, one belonged to Natas and the other to Jay Adams, and nether had matching icons.
