There is a photo of an original in Ryan Noll's book. I believe the repros (as I call them) have the Monk facing the other way to distinguish from the original
I have number 7 it has no tail logo, I asked for it without one, it was printed then removed as I understand it |

NHS products early 1990 (Rhyn Noll's book) :
I remember bringing up the idea of a monk at one of the several thousand-pages long threads on SC re-issues earlier this year, and checked with Goon if there was a chance...
I remember he said they wouldn't do it without Hosoi, even if Hosoi's name never was on the deck and it never got released as such, but just out of fairness...
Considering how Hosoi is sticking to his own company, he doubted that would ever happen.
I'd rather see the chance of another - more or less official/'legal' - repro series.
actually, I'm really wondering why one of the greedy bastards in skateboard business haven't come up with another batch of repros - there are few decks that fetch as much $$$ without actually having to worry about the NOS looks of the deck... |

i wonder why nobody's willing to pay 1500$ for a repro of THAT deck... |

I don't chime in often, but the Monk is by far the coolest deck I believe was made in the past decade. And, in my top 3 all time (along with the Pharoah and my beloved Daggertail; honorable mention to the Lester Splat, Muir Triplane, and Salba VooDoo). I know, obscure group there. But, us old timers have strange tastes...
Just had to throw that out there. Hope all the bros are well.
I will now go back into the basement for another year or two...
(Yo slob, howzit?~ Hope you are well!) |
