Sorry about the slow response.
Yeah, I do 3 coats. Well side, print side, well side again to remove excess.
I use Performance Screen Supply S.E.X. emulsion. its worked really well for me.
Dry flat, print side down in a tall cabinet with an exhaust fan at the top and a draw fan at the bottom for circulation.
I print on a 6 over 6 Antec manual press. We also have a smaller Antec 4 over 1 manual for smaller jobs.
Most of our basic inks are from Performance, with special colors and metallics from Union. |

| Th half tones turned out sweet. I'm in process of building my board press with hinges I just got last week. Hopefully will do some printing soon. |

finally did some prints.
T-shirt:
Decks:
Learned that for decks I have to clean the underside of the screen after each print... ugh.
Also learned that for t-shirts, to do 2 color, I need to leave the shirt on the platen. I must have stretched the shirt for the first color and I couldn't get it to register for the second no matter how hard I tried.
overall I'm happy - knew I'd never get it perfect. But it's cool. |

Yeah. Leave the shirt on the platen. What kinda setup are you using.
There's also a ton of helpful stuff on YouTube. Even if it's not a tutorial, you can check out the mechanics of everything. |

You really need a multi-head press to do multi-color shirts. There is no reasonable way to re-align a shirt that has already been removed from the platen to print a second color. |

yep - I'm beginning to see that.
with decks it's a little easier to dial in the second color since I can put every deck in the exact same place.
I'll have to think about upgrading to a muti-head if I decide to keep doing it. |

nice looking good for sure. depending on your burn placement. you can burn your two colors in identical spots so they set up in the same position on your press and switch them out fairly quickly.
still a pain in the ass if you are doing a large run but for a couple here and there simple. maybe keep some cleaner around and don't put alot of ink in your screen will help for quick set up.
those decks look awesome. |
