On a split board you can travel much faster than snowshoes and go where the helicopters and beelers don't. You have to know what you're doing though, beacons, rescue, snow conditions, etc. scawey stuff, but well worth it.

you also have to ski which is hella gay on a par only with regularly using and imac and/or iphone

Sorry - did you miss the whole of europe out of the equation there? Not sure if you noticed but we have these big pointy things called mountains..... quite a lot of them

And anyway, what the hell does riding deep powder have to do with anything? id rather not ride deep powder if I have to turn into a gay ass ski'er to do it

Over here we just rent a helicopter. No point fucking around

Which brings us back to the original argument.
Fly or drive to good mountains,
Pay out the ass chartering helicoptors,
rub elbows with yuppie dildos
kill your entire - day / 3 day weekend

Or suit up and skate your local park for nothing.

With the exception of the hike in types (which I am down to do) We can maybe all agree that snowboarding (in its commonly practiced format) sucks!

Upland. Yep this is one of the worst snow years I have seen here. Last year not so hot either. Global warming? The split ski/board looks worth trying out as snowshoes and postholing up slopes sucks ass when your 45. This weekend looks good for some dumpage. Just enough to cover up all the rocks.

Obviously it is a ton of fun but it is a pain in the ass unless you live in the mountains. For me it is a choice of either:

1- Fill the gas tank $50 bucks
2- Load up the gear and drive for 2 hours
3- Pay $50 bucks for a lift ticket
4- Ride for 4 hours
5- Pay $20 bucks for lunch and a couple of beers
6- Ride for 2 more hours
7- Suit down and drive 2 hours home
Total money spent: Roughly $100 bucks
Total time spent: one day

Or:
1- Get in the car (my skateboard and pads are already in the trunk)
2- Drive 5 minutes to my local park (Pedlow in Encino)
3- Skate for free for as long as i feel like it
4- Suit down and drive home
Total money spent $0
Total time spent 3 hours

I understand if you live somewhere with no skateparks and you have a season pass or something but fuckit. Snowboarding sucks.

so you think it sucks cause you dont live near mountains and its to much money for you to do it, and you can fall down

okay then

that doesent even deserve an answer

snowboarding kicks ass and give's you the feeling of total freeness
( ive that even is a word)

sorry if its out of your reach or budjet

SNOWBOARDING STILL KICK'S ASS

even more if ride it like skateboard, and take it to the streets

maybe not more depends from person to person

i can untherstand you dont like it butt your dislikeing it for all the wrong reasons

no better feeling then making the first lines on a freshly snowed up

mountain

wish i had some better action pic's to show butt i dont feel like i have to prove myself to someone that doesent appriciate snowboarding

it's possible that you're reading too deeply into this thread. I'm certain the original poster actually does like snowboarding, but dislikes all the hastle that comes with it. Even when I lived close to mountains, I couldn't stand the hastle. Lift lines, ticket prices, shitty parking usually (unless you want to wake up for first tracks which in itself sucks to wake up early.), cost of equipment (and even if it is easy to afford, it's still pretty damn pricy for seomthing that is seasonal.) All in all, snowboarding is fun as hell, but there's a lot of effort for making it fun, whereas skating takes no effort for the fun (not discounting effort in learning tricks, et al.)

Also, snowboarding like skateboarding is lame...it's a different sport. Railslides at the local schoolyard is pretty poser looking (my opinion).
