Yeah that about sums it up. But, MySpace is so last month. I talked with VK Dist a little bit, but decided not to try and strike up a deal because it's rumored to be a pretty shady operation. But if you want to check it out shoot them an email/call. I don't know their contact info. Google it. |

Thanks for all the info.
FedUp - Sounds like you did alot of good research. Thanks.
No response from my email to Blue Collar yet. We'll see.
Right now I am working on getting more kids on the team. Hopefully to help get the word out. Maybe build that demand. So far at least, parents (since team members are groms) are super willing to help out and take decks to their local shops and parks. Spreading the word to different states even.

it also helps if actual skateboarders helped promote your product....
i could be totally wrong and way off here but ...
if I were you I would work on changing the whole "soccer mom" promotional strategy
the kids round these parts (and shops) would probably laugh their ass off if a non skateboarder came up and tried to sell them on a board ....mostly due to me
ahhh i love making a difference in the community.....
just my opinion and 0.02
good luck breddah |

And Soup To Go, too.
For me, it's much easier to simply order stuff from SSD or RAX. In some cases, that's not possible, so I go directly to the manu/vendor. Usually it's something fairly specialized, and has been requested by customers.
Judging from some of my distros' websites, they don't tend to stock a lot of any one deck. I would say that 10 of one model is probably average (more BAM heart-a-gram's, and fewer oldschool shapes, however). I'd be very curious to know what the typical distro's profit is on a deck, as I can buy some boards from SSD or RAX for what I'd pay going through the manu/vendor.
I guess one question to ask is do you want to trade volume for profit? |

Well from my experience of seeing prices from vendors and prices from distros on the same products it can vary quite a bit. I heard Eastern works on around 17% profit margins. Blue Collar and South Shores prices dont differ that much from Eastern so they must be working on about the same profit margins. |

It depends, but from all the wholesale vs. retail sheets I've seen, most distros are getting a lot more than 17%. |

Thats on average. I have seen 300% markups for wholesale costs too, but I have also seen 10% markups. |
