That rips about the cubics. I can't wait to see how they turn out, and see if they ride the same as they used to.
I hope they bring back some of the other wheels too. Some original streetstyles and freestyles would make me pretty happy.

all Krypsticks I ever saw were white on the top with the trademark red K
the pic u showed looked like a Kbeam or the top of a foamcore board.
heres a Kstick as I know it which I own,it has 64x64 cubics coincedently.
The tops came ungripped - some guys used clear pizza, and some just 2 pieces of black/pizza griptape
and here is the top of a Kbeam,of which I own as well

Boy you just too me back at least 24 years. Those decks are excellent. I think you are correct. Because that white one with the red "K" is exactly the same as my first K-Stick and I used pizza grip on mine as well. Then I remember getting a black kryptonics that was exactly the same as the white K-Stick, it had the K on top and it said Foam & Fiber under the "K" in small red letters and underneath it had the same air pockets and I could swear it said "Krypstick", like it is written on the white deck, but in red. I had pizza grip on that one too. That K-Beam has a red K so did they make K-beams with blue K's as well? It is no big deal...they are all cool decks and yours looks great.
Do you remember the tailbones called "spaceplates," they were reversible. So, when you wore it down you could reverse it...they had one made out of wood and it was called a "woody" (lol).
Anyhow, thanks for sharing those pics. Those are some classic boards. The only flaw I found with a lot of Kryptonics decks is they had no concave or very little. But, they made a hell of a street deck.
Boy, I wished I had every deck I owned starting with my first plastic big banana with the loose bearings.
@bigpapes
On the link below, it will show you the Dubcons and they almost exactly like the minicubics they are double conical and they are 64mm, 95a and just as wide as the minicubics. They are the closest thing on the market that ride like old school minicubics. I had to get a set till I get my hands on the Powell cubics.
Scroll to Old School Retro Series Double Conical Wheel on the link below and take a look.

That is a great board. I won't them all.
Anyhow, I am pretty sure they made Krypsticks in different colors as well. Because, if the K-Beam comes in different colors, I am sure Krypsticks came in different colors as well.
If I had known how much all those boards would be worth now, when I had them during the mid 70's through the 80's. I would have bought so many extra decks and wheels and just kept them in the shrink wrap.
I'm just grateful that they started to make reissue Powell decks. Because, I have the Steadham and the Vato Rat Bones. They ride the same...the only problem is I am 75lbs heavier and I don't ride the same. But, I am getting back into it. I just have to wear extra protective gear. Before I wore none...Lol
Yea, those Bulldogs kick ass. I still use Kryptonics 70mm, 78a's for street riding here in The Big Apple. I have the Kryptonics on the Powell Vato and the Dubcons on the Powell Steadham.
PS, I remember those wheels. I never owned a set of them but I saw plenty people use them. |

Do I know Paragon's? I sure do.
It is on 18th street right near union sq. park and they sold all their boards downstairs (before, they were selling them upstairs, then in the 80's, they set shop up downstairs). I bought everything at Paragon and the Scandinavian ski shop on 57th off 6th Ave, they had a hugh secection as well.
I am born and raised in Manhattan, I grew up on the upper west side. It is cool to see a fellow New Yorker that knows the Old School New York Scene.
Cool.
I used to be a major graffiti writer during those days as well. |
