I'm not saying that a punk can't be conservative, I said that I have never met one. I just can't see how a consrevative ideology with it's ironclad rules can be congruent with an ideology that is firmly rooted in living outside of the rules created by others.
By "punks" I'm not referring to the glazed-eyed mall sheep that march around under the banner of PUNK until the next big fad hits. I'm talking about the approx. 30-45 year old range of punks that have been there since the start(or at least the 80's). I don't know or have met any from back then that say "Y'know, Regan wasn't all that bad".
The closest thing to a "consevative punk" I've met are some 17-20 year old who think that the only shocking thing to do is spout tied WP doctorine and sporing boots and braces.
Who are the conservative punks and what bands are they in?(Don't throw Johnny Ramone at me either because everyone knows that Dee Dee was the only punk in the band) |

old_timer, its funny how you preach about the left being intolerant to others views when you are the first one to be an asshole and start throwing around accusations and name calling against someone who doesnt believe what you do. Dont call me a socialist because you dont know shit about me, you just make generalizations the likes of which are staples of talk radio and such. For the record,I am somewhat fiscally conservative and completely socially liberal.
Also, I dont have too much against conservative punks but I have always encountered more ire for being punk from conservatives. The Dropkick Murphys are one of my favorite bands and they seem pretty conservative, and they get booked despite that so where is this bias against conservatives. You cant take one example of somebody (who has a chip on their shoulder regarding the subject) about their band not being booked.
If you would stop the name calling and Arab-like ranting , and throwing out unconnected generalizations like "your one sided socialist views" or "The government can't do that for you" then I might listen to you. If you would read my initial post I didnt say anything against conservative punks yet you chose to read something else into my comment and start name calling. It seems that you are the intolerant one. |

o_t.you do have an agenda.it's anti-left or liberal or what the fuckever the catch terms are.you talk about free thinking and yet the party you honk for is currently trying to take away freespeech and shove christianity down our throats.
for the record,i'm not down with any party or side.i just do the best i can for my fam. and try not to impead anyone's personal progress.my lifestyle is conservative,but my beliefs are not.
i still think its wak that you attack anyone with the quickness for opposing your views.you have yet to demonstrate the individuality or free thinking you keep rambling about.i'm not trying to attack you either,you may just be a hell of a guy but you're coming off in a bad light.

Now, I'm also curious about these so-called "liberal thought police" you speak of. What are the left doing to control people's thoughts?
Things that conservatives seem to want to control:
What you can say in public broadcast
Women's reproductive rights
who marries who
I'm also dismayed at the practice of trash talking and anyone who speaks out against the government.
These types of things don't go along with what I believe punk to be. |
