Thx for all the help guys! Really appreciated!
We're going to do it in 3 days SF to LA. We did the eastcoast last year and we sat most of the day in the car and had to rush all the time witch we don't want to do this time. We like to drive but also take the time to absorb. So we're going to take it easy on this one and take our time a bit for everything.

Hotel in San Luis is booked. Thx for the link Kevin!
We're going to have a drink at Mc Carthy, visit Moro bay skate museum & Vans outlet at Pismo as you mentioned.

If someone would know a great hotel not too expensive in Monterey or Santa Barbara would be great.

So it's gonna be: SF->Monterey->San Luis->Santa Barbara->LA->SD

Anyone knows if it would be possible to visit Powell in Santa Barbara?

If you need to break up the drive, or just want to see some old historical stuff, you can make some stops along the California Missions Trail.

Take a drive baby up the coast, yeah highway 101
I'll pass Ventura and Santa Barbara too, just as fast as my motor runs
Gotta pocket full of memories, some happy and some are sad
Gotta girl standing by my side through the good times and the bad.

Listen to the boulevard, listen to the falling rain,
I believe in love now, with all of its joys and pains

Sick boy, sick girl, looking nice dressed up on a Saturday night
Take a walk downtown for a while and chase the pale moonlight
I can still hear the mission bells and the train rolling through your town
Gonna leave this world behind, we're Southern California bound.

Listen to the boulevard, listen to the falling rain,
I believe in love now, with all of its joys and pains
Follow the palm trees under the California sun
I believe in love now, I believe in love again

Yeah we use booking but local guys mostly know the best/better places to stay. You can't always rely on the scores on booking so was just asking cause I know there's lots of people from those area's on here.
Thx for the adress Kevin! Mail send.

Amazing! Can't wait to go there. We did the 1 about three years ago all the way from San Francisco to LA in one time and had fog the whole bloody way to LA and didn't see a thing.
So we got off the one and took the 101 to get in LA faster.
Hopefully no fog this time. We will take our time for everthing this time cause the first time was really in rush...
We did all the parks back then such as Grand Canyon, Bryce canyon, Yosemite, Sequoia, ... And didn't spend time in LA or the coast area's. So we will be doing that this time.

The "glass" beach in sticks photos is pretty cool. The kids spent hours there. I can't remember where it is but it was fun
