I'm not a huge salad guy, but the ones I like, I really like.
THM makes this one fairly regularly, so I figured I'd post it for others. It's pretty easy to throw together.
Take a bunch of strawberries and slice them into approximately 1/4" slices or so. Put them into a bowl, and throw a teaspoon or two of sugar over them (less if they're more ripe), a couple cranks of freshly ground pepper, and 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar over the top. Put some saran over the bowl and refrigerate for an hour until they macerate (when the vinegar softens them a bit).
Assemble some mesclun or baby spinach on your plate. Throw some chopped walnuts over it, and then flake or crumble goat cheese over the top of it. Top it with the strawberry dressing goop.
Eat.

Yes, and please don't forget to attend to the nuts. Or the cheese. |

That's what went next to it. Just a standard* Quiche Lorraine. Here's the last piece, which I decided to eat after unwrapping and photographing it.
*Edit-->I'm pretty sure we nearly doubled the amount of bacon the recipe called for.

That's especially true when you eat a quarter of the package while preparing it to use as an ingredient. THM knows better than to only have enough on hand for what the recipe calls for, as I will surely eat some of it... |

so true - I added bacon to a chicken salad sandwich yesterday...
nice salad GM --- you can also mctwist it by subbing mandarin oranges and toasted almonds --- adding some thinly sliced red onion is good on both also.
I do the dingleberry using blue chesses crumbles, strawberries, almonds, red onion, baby spinach, and a sesame dressing.
Makes me feel pretty just thinking about it. |

The Mandarin oranges and almonds make for a more oriental style of salad, not necessarily the same tangy pairing that the balsamic vinegar and strawberries creates. THM refuses to consider pairing goat cheese with citrus, and recommends that anyone who would to proceed to hell.
I'll try the onions though. |
