Yeah but that's not why I picked him up for EGO. I saw this little dude at a local park here and the kid was trying everything. He wasn't landing much at all when I was watching him but damn I tell ya the kid never gave up. He was trying nollie flips off a funbox and eating shit hard to only get up look at his dad and laugh. I could see this kid totally loved skating, and reminded me of myself when I was his age. So I thought ya know when I was that age what would have stoked me even more about skating.....to get free decks and not have to worry about riding a beat up peice of shit, fresh wood when ever needed. So from there the kid got hooked up with free EGO wood and has been loving it, and showing his thanks by tearing it and most importantly having a blast the whole time. |

Good for him! That's awesome! I love watching the little rippers even though it pisses me of at the same time. That unbridled enthusiasm is contagious. |

Thats cool Lincolnz. Even i have no company i give stuff from time to time from my quiver for free to the kids.
Before the winter there was a kid with his dad, with a walmart/mall board like cheap skateboard.
With another guy i put out a new deck, wheels, bearings and set it up for him.
Just a hour later he was beginning doing a headstand (hes only 8 years and very small for his age) on his board,
balance holding while grabbing his board.
Everyone was/and is so stoked seeing him doing that. Truly amazing. He started doing drop ins on small quarters
and this year, with a little push from his dad, he can jump over a spine.
Yesterday we practice on rockrolls. And i even teach him to do his first boneless
Still looks all a little sketchy (maybe he needs a smaller board), but thats the same part we dont get him new trucks.
He is so light, the bushings are shaking on the kingpin but he dont has the weight to turn them. Funny little grom |

Bump
This is when I sponsored Andy Anderson and he began his career.
Not many have seen these very young pics of him! |

No problem. There was another thread where he placed 2nd against people 10-15 years older then him. The kid has had his style since he was a grom. That's what made me notice him.
The tricks he was doing, you could tell them he was learning more then just riding his skateboard. He was learning the history of skateboarding as well, and it still shows in his skating today. |

Agreed. And how many pros actually have a shaped deck these days? And Andrews style reflects and uses each part of that shape.
Telling ya, this kid at 8 years old gave just as much shit about the history of skateboarding as he did skateboarding it's self. You can hear it in his interviews and with who he gets stoked on meeting.
He's a great kid, and his father is total class. |
