FLIGHTâ„¢ decks are:
Thinner - as thin as your phone
Lighter than a similar sized 7-ply
Stronger - more than twice as strong in our tail break tests
Longer lasting - The epoxy infused, fiber reinforced structure of the Flight deck is extremely resistant to breaking, and this structure gives Flight decks "everlasting pop" that doesn't fade as your Flight deck slowly wears.
Ollies higher because of greater rebound and snap.
Team testing suggests that Flight decks will last several times as long as a 7-ply, making them a great value as well as a superior performing skateboard.

Interesting- hopefully they have improved on the SC NuWood concept and ironed out the problems. |

Got Powell to send an 8.5" out to strohsbro2 and EastCoastBP. They should have them in a week or so... I'm sure they'll report back.
Looks like there are some similarities to the SMA Blackbird construction which was also very light, near indestructible. It appears to have a similar weave that was neither fibreglass nor carbon fiber but rather some stuff NASA developed for the shuttle that Skip at SMA came across a number of years ago.
He brought it to Watson to do the Blackbirds but they kind of screwed him by then offering it to other brands. Its availability is limited.
I have a couple SMA's with the blackbird construction which they no longer offer since leaving Watson and they are rather killer.
If it is the same stuff these new Powell Flights will be sic! |

The SMA blackbirds and the others they made with the fiber construction are the best boards ever made... Have a whole stash of them that will last me the rest of my skating life. Will buy one of the Powells right away. |
