I'm having trouble making a blank deck base so I can actually make some art.
I use GIMP image manipulator, and the most convenient deck base I've got that has solid color instead of lighting effects.
If possible I'd like to use this graphic as a base because I'm working on simple edits right now, and plain black/white is perfect. The blank white graphic on boardpusher is too "advanced" right now.
Here's the deck before:
Here's the edit:
Here's a black deck, where the strokes are more noticeable:
What I do:
- create a 600x150 white layer
- load up the graphic, erase the logo
- color to alpha - make the white transparent
So, idealistically, the solid white layer underneath should show through. Problem is, if you look very carefully, you can see my erase-strokes for where I erased the logo. (Of course it looks practically solid-white here to make me look like an anal-retentive idiot. The strokes are much more noticeable in GIMP when I'm working, and with my end results.)
Am I missing something or is it GIMP? I don't see why it would essentially re-create/keep my strokes after making it transparent. |

Can you see them now?
*spoiler*I could only see them on the white, straining my eyes at the monitor*spoiler*
If you just want a solid color, use the eyedropper tool, select the color you want the blank to be, then use the fill tool to fill it in.
Or use eyedropper to select color, use the lasso/select tool to select the shape, then use a brush and pick like size 100 and color over everything in 1 stroke :p
After that, you can just select the eraser tool, and make sure the color swatches are black/white, then go to town, flipping the swatches as necessary.
-or-
Just use the pen/draw tool, have the board selected, and just draw with more precision.
If you really want to go balls out, invest in a drawing tablet, it's about 390848904240x easier than drawing with a mouse.
***Disclaimer***
I was using examples from Photoshop, but I imagine the tool names & such are pretty identical in GIMP. |

I also re-did them for you if you want 'em.

Thanks much!
Unfortunately the inkdropper advice doesn't work - strokes are still there. I'm guessing it's a GIMP problem instead of me. The lasso bit works of course but is a bit tedious, so I'm just using your bases. |

I had to rely on GIMP for a while when I got my new computer. Holy crap it sucks. I may have the same capabilities as PS but it's impossible to use. I mean, it's free but shit.
good luck man. |

check opacity on the eraser.
check to see if the white is actually white. you may be erasing to white when the "white" from the logo is slightly off shade of white.
I could give you a super easy tutorial on how I'd do it but that's for photoshop. Everything in GIMP is 100 steps longer to do. |

Ever considering like drawing it?
Two half circles scooted up against a rectangle.
I know it's pretty advanced, but hey dream big! |
