Hello to you all.
Did my title catch your attention?
Well it's true...!
My name is Rich and i'm the IT and Marketing Exec for
Unit3sixty Indoor Skate Park.
Firstly i would like to share with you the fact that our Indoor skate park will cover 22,000 sq.ft.
And secondly that we should be open by the end of the year 2013.
Now what makes our park different from the rest, is that we will also be catering for skate boarders when it comes to building our Skate Park.
No longer will you faced with nothing but huge ramps built specifically for BMX. That's right, we intend to be the first Skate Park in the UK that will cater for your needs along with theirs.
Stourbridge, which is where we are located has seen an 80% increase in the number of skateboarders over the past few years and their community is huge. Now they are all beside themselves with excitement because Unit3sixty will feature endless rhythm sections for the skating street enthusiasts.
Purpose built just for skaters after hearing what it is you want to see inside Unit3sixty will be a skaters paradise.
Don't get me wrong, BMX'ers will be coming along to ride their purpose built areas too, but the skateboard rhythm sections are built with you in mind.
It turns out nobody in the UK has done this really, unless you know of somewhere we don't....lol So we intend to be the first.
There will even be an opportunity for you to have your say in the final design, at one of our Consultation Events coming soon....!
Unit3sixty is a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.)
That means we are not for profit.....!
And we plough 51 % of all money made back into Unit3sixty to create and assist in the longevity of the park.
We will also be cheaper than the majority of other parks as we can pass the cost savings back onto you, the visitors.
There is also loads more going on at Unit3sixty such as DJ Schools, a break dance Academy and Urban Graffiti Studios.
But you can find out more about the rest when you visit our website/facebook page.
Thanks for your time and we would love to know what you think of our venture, Unit3sixty
Cheers Rich |

Sounds lame.
Endless? How do you manage endless with only 22,000 sq.ft.?
Huge ramps built specifically for BMX? Do you mean halfpipes? |

To me, the blarb that the OP wrote was, quite possibly, one of the worst piles of crap I've ever read!
I will support any skate venue that I can, and will happily travel a couple of hours to try a new spot.
BUT there is VERY little on that which makes me think 'hmmm, I'll check that out'
Just what the hell does ' endless rhythm sections for the skating street enthusiast' mean exactly???
I doubt you will return to answer any of these questions that myself or anyone else answers tho. |

Good afternoon to all those that have replied to my thread on here.
Well you all seem to be having a pop, so ill try to address your concerns.
Firstly, what we are bringing to Stourbridge is fantastic news and all of the local skaters in the area are chomping at the bit for us to open.
This is due to the fact that we have involved them all from the start and will involve them through the whole of the design stage.
We are told, by the skaters themselves, that indoor skateparks are all about bmx and scooters. Theres never anything for the skateboarders and you are expected to use the large parks that are built with bmx in mind.
We have tried to address this problem and are going to build parts of our indoor park specifically for skateboarders. With quarters and half pipes, a giant bowl (if thats possible in our meagre 22K sq.ft)...lol rails, mini ramps etc etc.
How this can be interpreted as bad news is beyond me and i apologise if my thread came across that way as that was not my intention. I just wanted to share with you skate enthusiasts that we will be opening a great venue with somewhere bang-on for you to all to skate in.
We have been asked repatedly to provide endless lines that are free flowing so that is what we will provide.
Hotrod i would never duck or dive any question you may have and to think so shows very poor judgement. Feel free to compile a constructive reply and i shall address it as best i can.
We are providing a venue for the children and young people in the West Midlands to go to as their is nothing whatsoever for the kids to do around here. A safe environment allowing them all to do things that they love such as skating, bmx, scooting, dance, art and DJ. How can that be a bad thing?
So many haters for a genuine skatepark set up by genuine people for the good of the community....very strange!
Rich

Rich,
I appreciate what you are doing for the skaters of that area, dont get me wrong on that score.
I wouldve KILLED for a park like that near me when i was younger, instead of having to either use a sheet of plywood against a wall, some chipboard on top of some bricks or travelling god knows how long to get to somewhere decent to skate.
HOWEVER....Ramp City in Blackpool (which im VERY sure you are aware of) wasnt designed for scooters or BMX'ers as far as im aware, yet they still use it, due to the fact that a lot of skaters are very finicky and sadly in this economic climate, to turn away the trade of the vermin scooterist is suicide.
Yes they tried doing skate only nights but sadly on the last few, the atendance was about 12 skaters.
You may want to promote this new location on www.middle-age-shred.com as that is a UK based site and tbh the amount of UK based members on here you can probably count on both hands sadly.
Good luck with your venture tho,i do seriously mean that (any skatepark is better than NO skater park...unless you count Warton! ) and i await to see photographs of its development. |
