Yeah, that's me. Wish I had more freestyle video, these cuts are before I competed and was videotaped by a local dood who wanted short cuts to include with his BMX videos. There's little more, but it's pretty much all I got...wish I had video from when I competed. I got lots of homemade street video from the late-80's early-90's though, but it's nothing like street skating today. lol
I use to call the one trick a Helichopter because if you landed it wrong you'd crush a foot under the board. I thought of it while daydreaming my senior year in high skool back in '82 and couldn't wait to get home to work on it. The handstand 360 shove-it was a killer too...almost broke a few toes learning that one. |

I thought it might be you. I used to talk with you about freestyle on the ncdsa forum a number of years ago.
I remember the late Dave Rich telling me about your skating. He was a freestyler from Massachusetts that used to run that blank board company Stick-It-Stix. The strange thing is, he described you as doing older freestyle tricks but all these tricks are pretty progressive even in by today's standards. |

NCDSA...now I remember. Good to hear from you.
I'm sure I did "older" freestyle moves, but I always kept up with what was shown in the mags that Howell, Day, Andress, Rocco, Mullen, etc. were doing throug the years, learned everyone of them. Made up alot of variations from them, and even a bunch of original moves. Maybe from the early-90s standpoint they were older, but when I competed AM in the mid-80s, they were skate of the art imo. |

I don't doubt that. Those are some great tricks.
Dave Rich and his step-brother Art Gracey ran the ESA back then. I think you must have skated with Dave at some of the Brooklyn Bridge contests from around '87 or '88. That's what I remember him telling me.
Those are some rad influences. I always wondered what happened to Huck Andress?
The only other person I've seen in person trying the handstand 360 shove-it is Steve Day's friend, Paul Barrios. Now Paul told me he pretty much stopped skating around 1981 but I saw him try them on my board at a freestyle contest in 2004 in Pasadena, CA. For someone who didn't really skate any more, he came pretty close to landing them. |

| I lived in OC, MD at the time and didn't have a car back then, therefore I unfortunately never made it to any Brooklyn Bridge contests. Speaking of Brooklyn, Joe Humeres was a cool dood. I was always right behind him in the standings. Great guy, boy he could tear it up. The end of '87 I moved back to PA and went back to school. Got good memories from back then...just wish I had good video. |

Are you still in contact with these guys? I'm wondering if they have videotape of the OC, MD contests?
