Hola amigos, I have been given the green light by the wife. I have a side yard that is 16.5' by 25'. I was wanting to have something different. I was thinking of doing a light bulb shaped mock pool, with pool coping. I want the smaller end of the pool to be shallower than the bigger end, maybe 3' to a 5' bowl area. Do you think this is possible with that space or would it be too cramped? I started skating in 94 so most of my experience is street, and building street type stuff. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.
Also, any cheap sources for building materials that you can think of? |

I would venture to say that the size you have to work with is way too small for a bowl.
I will also add that I've never built one either though. |

Army's bowl was smaller than that. Tight, but doable. |

A 3'-5' bowl would be serious fun.
If you have worked it out in your mind, then go for it. |

the small end will be fine, but the deep end will need at least 9' transitions and you will not have enough space to accomodate that if the area is only 16-17 feet wide.
I say build a nice traditional ramp with a spine or some other feature that takes advantage of the length.
You could even do a fun box with quarter pipes on each end since you are primarily a street skater. The box could have a rail and a hip on one side if you push it all the way to one side of the space.
The quarter pipes could be 16 feet wide with extensions or whatever you want to spice them up. You could even put a channel on one side. |

Google the photos of the guys that built a 'bowl' in their living room and kitchen. You can make anything work with whatever size area you have. Be creative with it. |

I'd go with a half pipe.
That would be a tiny bowl. |

how about a halfpipe 12'wide then bowl in one side shallow, like 3'high. the long length if its 25' then you could do 10'flat with 6'trannies and still have just a bit of deck on one side. then if your looking for something different slope either side of the half pipe down towards the shallow corner. I'm sure this would be a pain in the ass to build but it would be different.
get some of that tedder stone everyone seems to love |
