We just got one in my town, I was all psyched to try it. I came away really unimpressed. When you walk in, you're squeezed into this really narrow aisle lined with cookies, candy bars, etc. Then the rest of the store is really tight too and everything seems to be a lower quality store brand. I always have fun shopping for food and checking out all the different stuff you can get but this place was like being in a warehouse, a very tight one at that.

For some perspective, I love Costco, but they have great product and it's wide open in there.

there's been one here as long as i can remember. they had great stuff for mom to buy when we were all kids that needed school lunches. also, my friend's mom ran a daycare and bought all the snacky food from aldi. they also have delicious cream soda...except for it's kinda bright pink, which is weird.

yeah, it is kinda weird at first, but most low-end grocery stores are.

All these cheap supermarkets are grim experiences;

Aldi
Netto
Lidl

In Sweden our local was a Netto and it was crap. Half the store was filled up with low quality Chinese plastic shite, the beer selection was three brands of canned lager and they never had more the two people working on the checkouts. Queues were always 10 deep to get out of that place.

Aldi (and Lidl too, Netto, I dunno) are German discounter chains.
In Germany they have good quality food.

The Local Aldi is alright, has quality orange chocolate and a few other reasonable things. Even had Chinese pop out generators for $200 but the output was/is to low.

They suppress workers and their rights. They pay to low and have a corporate construction that avoids to pay more taxes. They blackmail the suppliers but throw money out for lawyers once they are brought to the labor court. They are scumbags, or to give a picture, our "Walmarts".

Behind their no-name stuff, is in reality, even crap from Corporate Brands. So what is rubbish for their Brand, is sold there. So you get the garbage, which explains why its so cheap. Who looks only at the price, always ends up with shit!

The few things they put out, what people call quality or even fair traded, is part of their marketing strategy. People get brainwashed and don't notice, that the common stuff they buy there is rotten.

I only buy good, cheap Danish beers in cans and mustard from Aldi.
All the other products here in Denmark seem to be German processed poison.
Nasty stuff at its best.

Yeah, in Germany (where they are from) they have great deli's - but their secret is 1 or 2 brands per item - gives them more buying power to drop the price, but limited range - you cannot do your full grocery shop there.
