I can't believe you enjoy Wendy's fries. They have to be the WORST damn fries I've ever had. ALWAYS soggy (and usually cold too). Blech.
I'll be the first to admit that they're far too inconsistent (perhaps that's why I always need so much ketchup...), although I think they're generally passable enough to tolerate when eaten in concert with the gushing deliciousness that is the Wendy's burger.
The best fries I've ever had were from a short-lived franchise (don't know where all they were, but they were in central Illinois back in the early to mid-90s) called Daddy-O's. They were a spiced and battered sort of fry like you can get at Checker's/Rally's, Miami Subs, etc., but were far better than those.
I eat McDump's fries without ketchup, not because they're awesome without it, but because I hate the tangy sweetness of the shitty Hunt's McKetchup. |

I commend their cutting edge approach to the ketchup packet. I've been wondering for decades why more places don't do that. Same goes for the styrofoam cup and the rat-turd ice. Each is a hallmark of efficiency (although I don't know whether the styrofoam is easier or harder to recycle than a thin plastic cup).
My local Wendy's usually gives me two packets when I ask for a big handful. I then ask for more, and they give me two more. I then say something to the effect of come on, a big handful please, which means they may give me as many as four more. Depending on how annoyed I am by this point, I'll either resign myself to having to mix warm packet ketchup with cold refrigerator ketchup once I get home (and swear to myself that this is the time I'm finally going to call the corporate headquarters about this foolishness, but I never do...) or I'll keep asking for more until I've got at least eight packets.
I usually have two Biggie orders of fries in my bag, and their first instinct is that one packet per order equates to a large amount. It's like the window attendant is being paid by how much ketchup is left over after their shift of something.
Amazing. This is probably why those kids on YouTube threw their drinks in through the drive-thru window.
I seem to recall this when we ate it in Jax with 4.5
seems mine was swimming in mustard.
Just go to 5 guys or In and Out and be done with it
forget the whatadump |

I should hope you recall it. I wasn't making it up because I thought it would be funny.
I don't get all the Five Guys love. Sure, it's a good burger and a cut above drive-thru tripe but it's no worldbeater. Their fries suck assholes and I don't give a fuck where that day's potatoes originated. |

yes indeed that was the time. there was way too much mustard, yet somehow i did find it enjoyable overall. i would request mustard on the side in the future.

Back in Miami, it was Royal Castle. |

the royal castle on 125th and 441 closed awhile back. the one on nw27th ave & 79th St is still going strong. i ate there probably a month ago.
i took some royal castle to TGM's house a long time ago, but don't seem to recall his opinion.
i like the royal castle, but can't say it's the best i've had. i'm loyal to the royal because it's still one of the "old time" unique miami places that has survived.
anyway, back to what-a-burger.
do they still have the fish sandwich, the what-a-catch? |

Amen on the over-hyped 5 Guys. Like you said, it's alright, but, whatever. I do, however, like the fact that they have malt vinegar on the tables.
Hunt's ketchup is swill and fucking Del Monte is absolute shit in a bottle.
Whataburger sucks. As far as burgers go, Birmingham is littered with tiny, hole in the wall hot dog shops that generally serve up killer burgers. Sam's, Pete's Famous, The Lyric, Jimmy's...excellent. We also have Milo's, which no-one else on the planet gets to enjoy.
I'm thinking that Milo's will be the choice for lunch today! |

I did enjoy Whataburger but that was 15 years ago when we drove down to Arizona. Hole in that wall burger joints usually kill all the chains. |
