So im looking into painting some boards coming up and was wondering on some advice. so far ive come to learn that nazdar 9700 or 2700 are the best screen ink choices. if i use 2700 its very glossy and therefore doesnt need a clear coat. if i decide to clear coat then sherman williams kem aqua would be a good choice if i layer it on very light so it doesnt orange peel. then for a backing spray on a board i hear enamel is the best paint to use. now i have oil based enamel right now but i read that acryllic based would work better. can anyone let me know if any of this info is wrong, if oil based wouldnt work, or anything else im missing! thanks!!! |

ive never used the 9700 but I believe its solvent based which can be messy and hazardous. I have used the 2700 which is water based. It dries fast and shiney, and cleanup is easy. You wont need a clear coat unless the board is unsealed or you just want to protect the paint.
There is a thinner and retarder that can be used, but since your painting and not screen printing, I doubt you would want to use those.
Are these boards for display or for skating?
Good Luck. |
