Ok, I am talking about fully coated decks. Where the top, bottom, and sides are all covered with a color. At first I was using a spray gun to put a latex paint/water mixture on the boards. But the decks were sticky on board slides and stuff. I thought maybe oil based enamel would be the way to go but oil based paint its soft and thick.
Here is my idea since I don't know how it is really done by bigger companies. Take a screen printing ink and dilute it down really thin to where it would be sprayable. What do you think? I guess i am going to have to try it and see how it works out. I just wanted to know what you all thought. |

I use regular ol spraypaint from home depot. Glossy. It works great for me. It's hard, and slick as F*%K. The guys that ride my boards all say the same thing... SLICK! I put 1-2 coats on, depending how it looks after the first coat. Don't get too much on or it will stick, regardless of what paint you use. That's my 2 cents from a garage board builder. |

I did the spray paint thing on the first few boards but the smell gives it away. I want it to be as professional and basement style can be. |

Let it cure and there should be no smell. Paints always smell during the curing process from house paint to automotive paint they all smell. |

Thanks, for the welcome back olivlawn, I've been working more and printing more lately so I usually have just enough time lurk in the forums for a few minutes a week. |

I found the right stuff to use, its perfect. Its the best stuff out there too. Go to the local porter paints store and pick up a quart of acri-shield enamel. Its a water based gloss paint. Low odor and super slick! One coat does the job perfectly. Enjoy. |
