I turn 27 on Wednesday.

My friends have decided to take me to Les Halles. It's the restaurant that Anthony Bourdain (A Cook's Tour; No Reservations) is the chef at.

Will report back with details.

Bourdain is a straight shooter, no bullshit with him, like his attitude to life. Really would like to visit his joint, long way off though, as im on the other side of the world.
Looking forward to your report though.

Rock out. I think that maybe some kind of bad thing will happen to you on your embarrassing birthday because someone is going to say something stupid or something. Asshole.

Okay. It was probably one of the best meals I've ever had.

Planche de Grillades. Yeah. It was a wooden plank piled with about 4 different meats and a heap of the best damn frites EVER.

It had a little lamb chop, some AMAZING sausage, the best piece of bacon I've ever eaten (hand-cut, almost like a ham steak), a small piece of hanger steak, and a small steak filet. The frites were perfect. Crispy but not overdone.

Apple tart for dessert. It was damn good too.

fuck yeah. happy belated.

I met Tony in NYC about 4 years ago @ a Grammy Awards related event - cool guy, we talked food & gawked @ hot women; it was post "Kitchen Confidential" but prior to all the TV stuff --- he was surprised I recognised him & was glad to hang and chat. A fun experience. The next night it was me & Bonnie Raitt solo in a suite in MSG eating pretzels...pretty darn cool too.

I dig his show. Seems like a cool dude. He's a big Ramones fan to boot. If I ever get out to NYC, I'll have to check out Les Halles.
