Has anyone tried it?
And I don't mean the tryhard Canadian Kobi ($130+ a kg), I mean the Japanese Kobi ($250+ a kg). |

tried it in Chicago on the arm of the boss (ie: I paid nothing).
Totally unimpressed.
Reminded me of a marble-esque filet mignon......yknow, kinda like stringy fat running through it? |

I thought it would be the complete opposite. Considering how the cattle are treated for it.
Wagyu cattle are raised on only about 260 small farms, most of which pasture fewer than five cows, and the largest of which run only 10 to 15 animals !!
Each animal is pampered like a spoiled child. Their diets are strictly controlled and during the final fattening process, cattle are fed hefty quantities of sake and beer mash. Each animal gets a daily massage. The theory is that mellow, relaxed cows make good beef. The massage and beer things do take place, but not for the reasons we've been led to believe. Beer is fed to the cattle during summer months when the interaction of fat cover, temperature and humidity depresses feed intake. Beer seems to stimulate their appetite !!! It's merely part of the overall management program designed to keep the cattle on feed in the heat of the summer. The massaging is done to relieve stress and muscle stiffness, particularly for groups in paddocks. It's believed that the eating quality of the meat is affected positively by keeping the cattle calm and content. |

I mean, the flavor was great as was the texture but I dunno......price doesn't justify it is what I'm saying. I've been more stoked on skirt steak from Franks Steakhouse for $18.95! |
