I'm ordering new Ts and considering Fruit of the Loom Value Weight (5.9oz or 165g). Anyone used them before? My last batch was Gildan Ultra (6.1oz or 173g) and they are nice, but I want something a little lighter weight (yet not a see-through piece of cr@p) for the summer heat.
Any opinions? |

I hate printing on FOL. Something just doesn't feel right with them. |

Hey, thanks for the advice...
After some investigating I realized I did the grams to ounces conversion wrong. The 6.1 oz are actually 205g and the "value" weight are really only 4.8 oz!!! Well, that makes my decision easier.
So how about Gildan Heavy 5.4 oz / 185g then? That should still be a decent shirt shouldn't it? |

see, in Canada a Gildan Ultra Cotton is billed as a 9.1 oz T (maybe there is a difference between a Canadian oz and a US oz?) and the Gildan Heavy Cotton are a 8 oz T? Weird . . .
I like the Heavy Cotton Ts (either from FOL or Gildan) but the whites are a bit see through. |

I typically use San Mar's house brand Port Authority. I think it is 6.1. A lot of bang for the buck since they put them on sale quite often. |

i'm not too keen on FOL just because they usually are see through and like Stranglehold77 said, when printing there's somethin not right about them. i stick with Gildan. |

Thanks for the advice, I ended up sticking with Gildan, but got some Ultra and some heavy. We shall soon see the difference.
By the way here's the solution to the Canadian weights...
USA uses oz/sq. yard
Europe uses g/sq. meter
Canada uses ounces/linear yard (36" long and 60" wide)
"linear yard"? WTF? Can't we all just get along? |
