Heatguns take to long and are unreliabe.

I dont really know what to look for though. I know "quartz" is suppose to be good but I duno why. What should I look for, where should I look, and why is the sky blue.

Thanks

WHY IS THE SKY BLUE?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

Just messing with you...

Quartz flashes are mostly used for automatic printing. They flash in less than a second, thus making them perfect for high speed printing. they are also really expensive and often have to lock into a print head on an auto. Look for something from any of the major brands. I have a really crappy one with some sort of stove element, had it for almost 6/7 years and it works fine. The bigger the better, mine is maybe 12"x15" and I need one about 18"x18" or 24" square. Movable stand is necessary, heat control is sort of necessary.

Flash units are pretty straight forward, you can probably get a BlackBody version for maybe $400, or something from vastex for around $900 or so. Make sure it's a 110 current (I asusme you don't have accesss to industrial/commercial power hookups.
