hey guys, im sure this has been asked before and i've searched other posts but havent found a final answer, what chemicals can i use to remove ink from screens, without removing emulsion? acetone maybe? any help would be appreiciated. thanks

| anything that thins out paint will work. Mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, turpentine. |

Laquer thinner works best for non plastisol inks, other soy based cleaners work good.
Laquer thinner isnt good to breathe for prolonged periods of time or ingest into your skin.
I just found out my old HS graphic arts teacher has nervous system issues from inhaling laquer thinner, etc for over 20 yars of teaching screen printing..

| I just use ink remover! you can get it easy and its not expensive! Call the plae where you buy your ink they should stock it! |

laquer thinner is god.
if i'm doing small two color jobs, after the first color, i just soak a couple shop tpwels in the stuff, and clean the screen of the 1st color.
works good, just dont spill to much onto the screen.it's nice because it dries up so quickly |

Laquer Thinner, Mineral Spirits, Terpintine etc . . will give you cancer, nerve damage, brain damage, lung damage and possibly burn down your shop. There are legitimate chemicals (often biodegradable) that will clean off most types of ink. CCI ProChem 109 is a great example, it cleans screens clean and it's biodegradable. You use so little, that the $25 you spend on it will probably do 100+ screens.
It really all depends on how long you want to live, and how well. It you are going to go the solvent route, get a disposal can so the rags don't combust and burn the place down. |

| I just checked and ProChem109 does waterbased, plastisol and solvent ink. I got rid of the haze remover cause this stuff cleans the mesh 100% totally, completly white. |

| yay cancer!!!! becareful with acetone, its pretty flamable, and burns light so you won't even see the flame before its too late. BUT it cleans the shit out of screens. but it also eats away at them. |
