I'm thinking about buying a LIbtrech 44 inch board to try something different. Unfortunately, I sprain my ankle skating last week now I have about 6 weeks to think about trying something new. At 35 I think I may try to mellow out a bit (Can't afford to miss anymore work!).

Hmmm, maybe the wrong review? I think he has one where he rides it in a park.

Wow! I forgot about that, Ronin. I still have that deck and it is killer. I rode it in a park a few times. It's very functional. F/S or B/S grinds were not a problem at all.

My normal park board is 40"x10", 22" wheelbase, and that works well for me on everything, including mini ramps and tight backyard pools. I've played around with the Madrid El Cochino, which is 44"x15" with 24" wheelbase, and that works well in parks once you get used to it. The first two shots were my first day back skating after a 5 month layoff because of leg surgery. The pool at Chino is similar to a real backyarder- tight trannies and almost no flat bottom in the deep end:

A longer board might not be the best thing on vert if you've got a bum ankle....ride it on flat ground for awhile till you get used to it... I've been riding longboards since I got a Sims 44" back in 78'....what a tank. I don't ride anything bigger than 36" on banks or ramps.... maybe that would be a good size to start with, and move up later.for us old farts, they're harder to manuver and you'll have a slower reaction time...
