their info on Maxopake inks from Union is incorrect. You cannot use the Max ink for transfers by adding extender base, you need to add Mixo-trans . .. . hmm . . not a good sign. as attractive as ordering online is, you will get better knowledge, service and pricing from a supplier. Build up a relationship and they will hook you up with samples and such. Our current supplier just dropped the price for another 8 colour/8 station press for our shop, by around $2000! Whenever I am curious about a new product I just call my guy and say I want a sample, I get it in the mail, ink, emulsion, spray tack you name it, they want your business and will bend over backwards to get it.
We use Union Ink in our shop and the rep from Wilflex callled me up trying to get me to switch. She sent me 3 quarts of white ink, over a quart of emulsion, ink jet film and about 5 chocolate bars; all because they wanted me to spend my shops money with them. |

wow thats crazy, i know they dont have the best stuff, but mainly i was talking about their frames, and mesh, the stuff that doesnt have to top quaility. but i know what your sayin, i still order from a screen supplier but some people dont have the budget to get the highest quality stuff and sometimes, relationships with companies like yours can take a while. basicaly they are a good source for beginners or printers who dont have a lot of $$. (i make my own frames but you cant beat 5$ for a frame) lol

frames and mesh are probably fine from Dick Blick, you will probably not be getting the best as far as mesh, frame and tension goes. but, as yo said, you can't beat $5.00 a frame. I would eventually try to equip your press with 4 110s, 4, 157s. and 4 200s. that should do you for awhile and deal with almost all the jobs you will get or want to do. |

totally dude. I gave away about 30 frames that I made myself, when I upgraded to the aluminums. If you have the resources to reclaim your screens then I would recommend looking into getting at least 1 110 aluminum screen with screen stretched to a good tension, there is seriously a huge difference when printing shirts, it's like night and day. I bet you can get them for around $25 or so (I get them for about $35-$40 here in Canada, but I could probably find them cheaper if I looked around, I just like ordering everything from one place so whatever. |

I got to say i agree about sticking with one company. It really does pay off , if you want samples or only need a small amount of ink. Buying ink for boards can work out pretty expensive especially if you just want to try out an idea for a graphic and you have to buy 1kg pot for 40 quid. I think as well, the suppliers get a kick out of the fact that they supplty to the querky smaller companies. For any Brits that want to know a good supplier of inks for vinyl, nylon, plastic and boards go to Kromex.co.uk . You can get the phone number from there and speak to Julie. She's well clued up and the prices smash sericol. (in fact, i think their ink is better than sericol, especially for vinyl stickers and boards). |

dick blick has a store down the street from me. their screens are actually pretty tight, but use #x/#xx mesh (like 10xx-16xx) the screen is super cheap too. plus its easy to steal from. |
