Axle width should be w/in a quarter inch of deck width. That's for "normal" width/modern wheels. For heavily offset wheels, subtract accordingly. |

I have Indy 159 On a 9 inch salba with shitfires and it works sweet. I had powel rat bones on it but they stuck out too much, and made it kind of hard to turn in the bowl. |

Wouldn't it be nice if...
- skate deck manufactuers provided 2 additional deck dimensions: front truck width (FTW) & back truck width (BTW)
- truck manufacturers provided hanger width (HW)
- wheel manufacturers provided: wheel width (WW) & inner hub depth to bearing (IHD)
Then all the online shops or AOS had a little java app on their sites that accessed a database with all these dims and let you pick:
- a deck
- a front truck
- a back truck
- the front wheels
- the back wheels
Then it told you:
Front truck gap (FTG) = - (FTW - HW - 2*(WW - IHD))/2
Back truck gap (RTG) = - (BTW - HW - 2*(WW - IHD))/2
A positive truck gap (FTG or RTG) would be the amount each wheel sticks out and a negative truck gap would mean the deck is wider.
If IKEA sold skateboards that's how they would do it!
BTW - when I put old Motobilts on my new BLRK DP which came with the new bolt pattern - I just drilled 4 holes into the deck - the grip tape covers the old holes.
To get it properly lined up - I bolted a truck to the deck using the outer holes - then put the drill bit through the inner truck holes - worked fine - 15 min max. |
