this is Ron. i am in a delimma. i traded a guy named harold from australia a Hawk Birdclaw for a Obrien Reaper.before the trade i told him the board had storage scuffs. he tried to get more out of me many times any i wouldnt do it. well after a week we talked he writes back saying he will take the birdclaw for the reaper deal. i said cool. i mailed out his board. he said he mailed mine. that was about 2 weeks ago. well earlier today and yesterday he emails saying it wasnt a good trade and wants me to send his board back. i made copy and pasting his letters. PLEASE LET KNOW WHAT YOU THINK--i am looking for your input. --I paid $20+ bucks to send his Birdclaw. and will have to spend $20+ to send his reaper back. i will be out $40-50. will he pay it??
email1:

perfect so what i want to do is send u your deck when it gets to me and i'll
appriciate if u can send me mine back i'll even pay for the shipment if you
desire, sorry ron but ithink i ddin't get a fair trade and i know this is

This is kind of a tough spot to be in.
He made the trade Fair and square and once both packages have been shipped the deal is sealed.
I know the desire to be a nice guy and to be more than fair is a strong one. If he wants to take the deal back, I would make him pay all of the shipping expenses involved.
This would include your original price of shipping to send the board to him in the first place and the price to send his board back to him.
In this way, you are not out the cost of anything, other than your time.
This is my opinion based on the evidence I see posted here. If anyone disagrees, I am sure there are many ways to deal with this situation. It is an interesting problem.I am going to keep an eye on this topic to see what others have to say.

Not sure where this guy is located, but if he's in the US it is entirely possible that the board is hung-up in customs - I've seen delays of three weeks with Fed-Ex and UPS.
Good clear photos would make backing out of a deal like this a non issue.

Blaire/Everybody
i send photos like the one of the uncle wiggley i have on ebay right now. i am going to give him his option of paying both shipping charges but thats the only way. he claims hes still never seen the board other than pics. hes in Austalia. oh well this just bugged me because once i say "A DEAL IS DONE--IT'S DONE" i wont be a dick. he can have the deck back. i just never been in this situation and wandered what others would think. i still will accept replys on this. even yours Harold.
later Ron

If the pics were of that quality and didn't hide any terrible flaws I'd say the deal is done.
Allowing him to back out with only the shipping charges as penalty is rather fair of you.
Austrailia huh? Maybe a Dingo got your Reaper, by cracky! |

This is Ron. i really just posted this to kinda let people think about trade ethics. how would you feel if someone decides to back out after the board is half way around the world. i will never back out of a deal. even if i find it may not be as good of deal as i thought. i just always been that way. i am a man of my word. later Ron |

Ron,
I wouldnt let him out of teh deal. Truthfully, I try to be a nice guy but personally onceI make a deal it sticks especially once it gets to the point of decks shipped out.
I mean once everything has been sent in the mail it kinda finalizes everything.
Am I to understand that one of the boards has gone missing? As in he claims he never received your board? If this is the case, no way would i send his board back. You arent responsible for lost mail.
