1. Get brand new boots before your last day of riding for the season.
2. Forget your usual socks at home.
3. Borrow some hiking socks from your dad.
4. Ride all day long, never stopping to check out why it feels like all your calf hair is being ripped out.
5. At end of day, remove boot to find that a 3" x 2" patch of skin is hanging loosely of the back of your left calf.
6. Wake up the next morning to find that said skin did not detach, but rather has inflated with fluid to a standing height of about 3/4" and that you can no longer wear long pants over it, let alone a tube sock.
7. Six days later, take a pic of the nowhere near as gnarly blister patch and ask yourself, Which is more disgusting, the blister or my pale-ass leg?
