Fucking GC...it's a headache waiting to happen going in. But yet I still go in...dunk into the acoustic room for quietness. Think my head would explode working there.
Got talked at for Jamming..."No Jamming" - fine no buying. Had to go back in last week after seeing a new gal...nothing cuter than a punker chick- that might play the guitar.
If you've bought stuff there before they're more willing to wheel and deal, but FOLLOW DANGERSTICK'S INSTRUCTIONS - and don't be afraid to walk out if it fails and try later - with someone else...Cash in hand...and don't give them your name until the deal is done...I swear they pocketbook profile in their system. |

True story: This is 21-22 years ago. I go into GC intending to get a cheapo Tama Rockstar drum set for touring. If you saw the places we played, you'd want a set of cheapo but reliable tubs, too.
GC was running a sale for $399 for a 5-piece kit with hardware.
Adam from the Faction was in there, and he had the same idea. Keith had an old Rogers kit that wasn't too reliable, if I remember correctly.
We talked and I told him I was certain they'd go $240, which is 60% of the sell price. Cost + 10% remember?
So we both negotiate the same deal. The drum guy goes to talk to his manager and comes back with a "yes." But the manager's with him and seems willing to shut this thing down at the slightest provocation. I got a midnight blue kit, Adam wanted black. Out come the drums from the back room, I whip out $260 cash ($240 + tax was what I had calculated, and all I had brought with me into the store - also, no credit cards or checkbook), throw it down, they write up the receipt, it's a go.
Adam pulls out a checkbook that says "IM Records" on the checks. His deal gets shut down right away. Why? Because he demonstrated at least the appearance of the ability to pay more. A checkbook, and one from a record company (even if it was from a company he was running out of his bedroom in his parents' house) made the GC guys think that they could hold out for more. I don't think the Faction ever ended up getting that kit. |

I also found that GC absolutely HATES it when you go in and start playing slap bass on their selection of uprights. |

I love the people that go in to simply play their grandios solos, then leave. Seriously my brain feels like stew leaving there. I'm thinking the drum room has to be the worst...I've seen mental breakdowns by the drum employees - all the drumming, all the time. |

I just bought a DIGI 002 for 1400 bucks, that's cheaper than Egay. In my opinion they have great deals for a retail store. |

Do they still have those outhouse size cubicles with a Marshall stack in them so you can go in and blow your ears out? |
