Hello All!! I need some tips on constructing a 3 color home setup. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Pretty much anything concerning construction of silkscreen setup. If this topic has already been discussed please direct me to the spot.

go to http://secure.usscreen.com/catalog/index.cgi?keywords=dvd

there is a book that they sell that has plans for a one color and a 4 color press.

I think it is called "How to Print T-Shirts For Fun and Profit"

there is also plans for exposure tables. Lots of good info.

Books are great and all!! But I want to do some printing. Help me out peeps! I know there is secret knowledge out there. Come on what kind of initiation must I go through to get that sacred information we need!!

Plans for a press that I don't have to buy from some shitty company!

Thanx, oh yeah don't worry we're not planning on printing on skateboards...we just want to make other stuff quicker!

I think you would be supprized at what you can do with some imagination and some "jiffy" hinges. Also if you start with good screens and frames you will produce more easier. Check out something for me ok, call these guys and ask to talk to denise, she is very helpful and you can talk to her for a while on their dime....

After you do you will have some info on the basic prices of hinges, a squeegy, a screen and frame, and you can start making a plan.-good luck

That book is where almost everyone starts out. You don't have to buy someone else's press. It's got the plans in it to make the presses out of wood, etc.

If I had any plans or secrets I'd send them to you. I haven't had that book or built a press in about 15 years or so. It's been sweatshop issues since then.

good luck.

jiffy hinges rule....
best place to start....
you'll get a real feel for the way printing works with out shellingout a lot for a press you may never need

We will definitely follow some of these leads! My friend I'm working with has previous experience silkscreening and I've been doin' the DIY screen thing for the last six years. We both need a place to do multi-color printing in NYC, she has to go to some spot she hates when she wants to print. All my shit is in Rhode Island and I don't have access to a press there anyway. Needless to say we both want to print so we want to construct a setup in the loft where we stay.

Then I told her about the bro's and sis' at this forum and how we all either have screened, do screen, or will screen. she can't believe how into silkscreening we all are! Not many websites have a forum dedicated to the art. S n' B continues to be one of my favorite things of all time.

Yeh, they may care about profit but on the basic level I have learned quite a bit in a short time looking at those boards.
