I grew up 3 blocks from paragon,15th&5th
my pops still lives there and I visit yearly
that was the place to buy skates back in the day
some fat guy named frank made up up for ya

I remember to this day gawking at all the pigs on the wall
they let me test drive a DT BF and I turned it down cause it was too big for my small feet - If I only knew
anyways back then skate parks were few and far between so I ended up an Washington square alot skating and toking lol

I know Washington Square park all too well. They had some little mounds you could skate on...nothing like a pipe or ramp of course. I made a lot of cash selling tabs and I toked plenty there.

Even though I was an uptown guy, I hung out downtown often like on St. Marks Place (8th street). That was when it was fun to hang out, there were girls everywhere, getting high was part of the culture and you could do just about anything you wanted (within reason of course). Boy, those were the days.
Now, that park is locked at night and they have cops everywhere and the skates you see now ride these cheap popsicle decks, listen to hip hop, have fade haircuts and wear their pants like you know who.

I had the long hair, the Black Sabbath Tee Shirts, the denim jacket and the blue jeans, I liked the city back 20 years ago. It was rugged, dirty and fun. Now, it is like Disneyland. You can't even drink a beer freely. But, you can't take away the memoires either. By the way, I remember that fat guy at Paragon, he really knew his stuff (that was at least 20-25 years ago).

Dave - this site suffered an attack by a hacker a couple of weeks ago - the code hasn't been fully restored yet.

Nice stuff you've posted; welcome.

Sorry to go off subject but what was the attack they used? I work in security and am just interested in how to avoid that happening again.

I just saw the catalog for the reissues for powell from ASR. The min-cubics are exactly the same as the og. 64x47mm 95a. Also Ratbones are going to be reissued and The Cab and Mcgill Snubnose models I beleive they will be flat decks. Boards will be out in a couple of weeks, wheels in 5-6 weeks.
