Thanks it does explain a lot. the machine I made is like this
Less the wood on the bottom. I am going to order more hinges to make a new machine, I will account for the off contact by the thickness of the wood I mount the hinges on, about how much height would you reccomend? Also because I don't have the base on my machine I can't glue the shirt down so I will have to account for that.
Anyone screening without a machine will run into the same problems that I am incountering now. Thats why I posted this here instead of a PM.
Also I have tried using softer run of the mill squeeges and they seem to leave to much ink on the screens. I dont get good definition with them. Do you think it could be the screeens I make? When I use my technique I get real good detail and fine lines. |

As for off contact, you could just try making a few little shims of cardboard or wood and tape them to the bottom of the screen in the corners in order to raise the screen up. I find off contact to vary from job to job, and I've never really measured it. |

yup I started at home the same way
and yeah do the shims and see if that works for you
I think it should be somehwere around 1/16" to 1/8"
but it does vary per job |
