I've just purchased a steel (I guess homemade by an indie company) 4 color press, instead of springs it uses magnets (the part that holds up the screens & releases them). I've noticed with the magnets, its hard to pull down the screen, and it jerks (anyone use this type of press?). Did I make a bad choice with this press?

Also, I've checked ebay and really want to find a good deal on wholesale blank t shirts. Any suggestions? I've seen .99 cents for white t's, but that's the lowest.

Thanks in advance (like with most others, this is the only site I could find any information about screen printing). I've read about 50 posts, seen a few ask about blank decks, couldn't find anything about black shirts.

Nevermind, fixed the magnet problem. Just covered and taped half of it so it isn't so hard to release.

Sorry about that first question.

On last question, when you make a design, you can't keep it for later use? I don't mean the design, I mean some sort of stencil? If that's a dumb question, sorry, I'm just curious.

What about tags for your shirts, anyone have information on that?

I can't help you too much here since I'm in Canada, but you could try contacting the shirt compnies themselves to find a wholesaler in your area. Gildan shirts are what I like to use.

I'm not too sure what you mean. If you are using photo emulsion, you have to have your design on clear films in order to "shoot" the screen. The film is reusable to shoot again and again. Also, once your image is burned on the screen you can keep reusing it for a while. It will break down after awhile, but not for a bunch of print runs.

You mean custom tags with your logo? You would probably have to contact an embroidery company about that. I've never done it before, so I'm not that much help.

I'd love to see some pics of your press. I've never seen a magnet one before.

Ty

Thanks a lot!

Magnets hold the back of those (usually it's springs), so when you are trying to pull down, it's hard and jerks. With half the magnet taped, it releases somewhat smoothly.

Tags was a dumb idea.

Ebay or silkscreensupplies.com. Silkscreensupplies is a legit internet company with a 1877 number and tracking on all orders.

I am skeptical about ordering online, but they definitely came through for me. If anyone knows of a cheap online site to order ink, screens, or supplies from, please let me know.

Thanks.

Something I have been doing lately on our shirts is cutting the original tags out, and make a new custom tag inside by either iron ons, or just screening the inside of the shirt. I prefer the tagless shirts anyway, so it works out well.

hey man, here is what i do, i go out and buy a nice quantity of cotton material and i print my own tags, you have to figure out the sizing you want and all and use a finer mesh like 180 or so and you can print like 20-25 per pallet then cut em up and sew em in. also for really good screen printing connections go to (SCREENPRINTERS.NET) then look for the links page you will find everything you need there.
