I've been talkin to these guys and they seem really cool and their prices are awesome! I was just wondering about their wood. I dont really wanna pay 20 for a sample if its crap.
Im super stoked on these guys, I hope their wood is good.
In other news...Useless had an art contest and this one guy just raped it. He sent us about 20 designs in less than a week. The contest isnt offically over but he won..you cant beat consistancy like that so we're hiring him.
Here is a rough copy of a design that we're going to print.

You know I been talking with a guy from Mimic the past week....trying to get a sample off him. So what gives? He's selling blanks for 13.00each and wants to give me a sample for 26.00...what's the deal here? 13.00 for shipping? I'm not sure about ordering from him or not...I've been getting my blanks from Madrid lately, and have been really stoked on the wood.
-TrashCan- nice artwork/artist you got there!

yeah,
there`s a thread about mimic spam somewhere in the last few days.
http://www.skullandbonesskateboards.c...topic.php?t=26151
I scored a spam from them today.
yeah, $26 for a sample, pretty pricey.
I was talking to a taiwan company about decks and they wanted to send me samples (3 blanks, grip, 1 set of trucks, wheels, bearings). they wanted to charge $150 for air shipping. I said "ummm no, maybe surface is best" so they quoted me $100 for surface. which is still pretty pricey considering I scored from krooked 3 decks for $50 air from the states.
but then they probably want to cover their ass, i.e. only wanting legit dudes. they don`t want to be shipping free decks to groms, etc.
but then you have to spend money to make money. |

I got a mimic spam today too. I emailed back saying that the prices are great but did they have "old school shapes". They replied saying they did with an attached photo of a poopsicle they did for the warp tour. I'm still awaiting a reply to my request for pics of the shapes they offer. The printing on the pic looked real nice though. |

I've ordered from these guys before, super smooth service. Its a real grassroots factory and you get basically cost for the boards. It probably costs them like 10 to make them so they only make like 3 dollars a board. Maybe thats why they like to do screen jobs, to keep them up an running. It's definitly good wood and I've talked to both of the people who kinda run the stuff over there on the phone (its a small opereation), yet again really nice people. I can tell you one thing and that its about a billion times better than chineese or taiwaineese wood that i had before from TGM (TOTAL GREEDY MONEYMAKERS) that even someone who couldnt ollie could break. Just defects everywher, and what happens when I e-mail them with a response about the problems, absouletly nothing. I guess thats what you get when you spend 12.50 a board including shipping for a 10 boards assortemnt off of ebay (and they sent me a micro deck...BASTARDS!)
Travis, the guy who runs Mimic and makes most of the boards and stuff told me that OEM had hijacked his e-mail list and been sending out skateboard spam. High tensions. But the boards and service will make you very very low tension. Everybody should order from mimic, they rock! |

DON'T ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!
I am greedy and don't want them to get too busy. Just kidding. Travis is awesome and they just opened up some new warehouses so turnaround time is excellent (3weeks).
They will work with you. |

I ordered from them before. They use good wood and have nice prinitng. Definately good for shops or small deck companies that want smaller runs. |
