Anyone like these deliciously juicy slabs of beef? Its been a bitch getting them since I moved east. You say tri tip to the guy at the meat counter and he looks at you like you're from Mars. So I would have them FedEx'ed from this beef dealer in Coalinga and pay through the nose.
But now our local Trader Joes carries them.
So for all you east coasters with a Trader Joes nearby, get a Tri Tip and throw it on the grill. You can't cook it wrong...just don't overcook it. Before you do, roll it around in a pile of seasoning or get it pre-seasoned (they sell them both ways). Slice against the grain and serve with beans & salad.
Now all I need is In-N-Out to set up shop over here... |

Tri-Tip is quite good. And yes, just like flank steak it has to be cut against the grain, otherwise, you'll be there all fucking day. |

I'll stick with my Alberta beef and buffalo tenderloin, NY, Porterhouse and t-bone cuts slapped down on a searing hot bbq for 2 min. a side, with coke~yaki marinade, of course.
Shit... now I'm hungry. |

Blair I could fool you with a part of the sirloin and tell you it is tenderloin and you would never tell. I have never tried a tri-tip roast, I bet that would be good stuffed with all kinds of goodies. |
