Aww Jesus. Why'd I wait so long to read this post. Classic.
Anyways, if you want to know the top selling board, than look no further than FIve Points. We have been around for a year now, and produce the best decks around, in the highest quantities! Our latest marketing researcher told me that 6.66 out of every 10 skateboard decks are Five Points Skates. And you can take that one to the Market!

I gotta vote Element since Rupp is a local!
All the kids seem to be riding them but then I am in the Mid-Atlantic and not really in the popsicle Biz; but Element seems to have the hot riders right now according to the Groms!
I agree that it depends who the hot riders are and the new Video heros!
That Global Hawk thing is hard to argue with!!! |

Yeah, I know, around here in Ohio at least, that Element and Black Label are very big. Element being the bigger of the 2. Every kid coming into the shop is screaming Bam. My buddy said he could wrap a piece of shit in paper, write BAM on it and could sell it for $20. Pretty funny.

Up here in Toronto the popularity of board company and it's sales volume varies per town or region. For example, Bling Bling decks like DKG and Ciity Stars sell well in Markham, where in Newmarket and Aurora the kids all ride Habitat and Seek. Out in Kitchener the number one seller is Rasa Libre. The kids purchase what the older guys buy. It's a funny business - owning a shop is tough and predicting what will sell when you are at a distributor isn't easy.
DON'T SHOP AT WEST 49 - In my 17-years of skating I have never bought a board at a f-ing mall. It just isn't right |

This info is interesting...and my lack of knowledge of what the street kids are into is what keeps me from stocking alot of decks.
I know what I like but Im not going to place a thousand dollar order of decks I think are cool. Im not too into making alot of profit but Im against losing money.
So I stick with Blanks, but Im moving into selling some other companies. |

"Every kid coming into the shop is screaming Bam."
...and for the 90% of them that get turned away...
"Sorry, SOLD OUT!" "Get here early on thursday when the truck comes in"
i've heard it from all the shops...
and its not that Bam's all that,
its that when we were kids, we looked up to guys like Hawk, Cab, Mullen...etc.
we were kids, they were our idols...
BUT!!!
the hard core guys of the 80's were into the freaks of the 60's and 70's (with all their slalom, and hand/head-stand crap.)-- to them, an old ?nash? was what a ?natas? is today...
its already set in stone, the seed has been planted into our mtv generations mind.
some even think they must act like Bam and Britney Spears to be "cool"
yeah,
when these kids see my 15 year old "Vote Bam" they are gonna remember the good old days... from before the "big one"
and they will WANT THAT THING BAD!
there's no stopping the bam wave... its almost run its course, but like cab, i think he'll stand the test of time...
being a skater is about being DIFFERENT THAN EVERYONE ELSE. kids relate to BAM!
"Sorry, This ITEM is NOT IN STOCK"
no sale- lose money....
"item not currently available"
no sale- lose MORE money!
"Check back later"
you stupid store owners are losing money because of your predjudices... let go of them.
are you in the business to do business, or to try to send customers elsewhere?
go with trends- its how companies succeed!
anybody have any 2002-3 bams for $45 in stock???
how about those other 2002 world industry decks that are still there (NOW! Discounted to $39.99!!! woohoo!!! and you wonder why they don't sell?)
yeah, if every kid wants to collect bams tirds, LET THEM!- you can get those HIM 3's for $50... oops- none left... well the him 4's are still available in a wide asst. of colours... wait, are they in stock still?
DUH!!!!!!!! |
