I'm dissapointed that Nike was able to break into our industry. Even as a real young kid I was against Nike because of the stupid kids that all thought it was the ultimate cool.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but Nike didn't break into the industry, they were there with Converse in the beginning.

It's arguable because they tried and failed with the "choad". Google that one. It was pretty generic compared to where skating was at along with their general marketing approach (1996).

I feel like the suits hated us and now they just want the money.

Anyways, there's no arguing people wore blazers in the beginning but the gen consensus is that they shyed away from that and ultimately didn't give a flip about skating til it was profitable.

Good article.

Two points. I agree with retarded monkee. Whatever money Nike pay their Asian workforce is dictated by the market, not some evil corporate conspiracy. The worker and capitalist meet on equal terms in the market. The worker can withold his labour-power just as easily as the capitalist can refuse to buy it. This is the essence free labour.

This only works when the worker can "withhold his labour-power" without repercussions from the government. Do you think it is easy for workers to strike in some of these developing countries?

Yes, sir. Lance Mountain and Blackhart sported them back in the day. Pretty sure Rick still does.

Lance does, but they pay him.
(I'm not riding Nikes, but I can't fault anyone who's gonna get a decent paycheck).

Anyways, what shoes do you guys think are worth supporting these days? I am currently riding in a pair of Lakai Cambridges and they took a real long time to break in, but they do skate pretty well.

Lastly, what's up guys, been a while...hope you're all doing A-OK! 👌 👍

I just got a pair of Cariuma's. Super comfortable. Seem pretty ethical.
Mike V rides for them.
