Heya,

Anyone know if Indy has lowered the king pins or something else has changed on 215s? Seems like Bones Bushings don't fit properly anymore.
Never had any problems before.

IDK but I didn't like the Bones bushings in my stage 11 215's. I had to us Khiro yellow barrels and red cones to get them trucks to turn the way I wanted. I was having trouble getting the nut to thread on up to the nylock like the kingpin was too short. Now that the bushings have broken in the nylock just barely catches.

What’s up vinyl, it’s been a while.

Does sound like they shortened the kingpin if you both had trouble getting bushes to fit. Have you measured the stock ones or compared their height to Bones Hardcores?

I'm not saying that it has anything to do with this, but...

Remember Independent released solo baseplate a couple years ago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it have a bit of a longer kingpin? Did the stock kingpins get lowered and this was the "fix"?

Or was that just to get the backs of longboarders who wanted different bushings and wanted to stick with Indy?

Or was this just to be nice to the crowd demanding a 6 hole baseplate?

Just throwing it out there, I could be totally wrong.

I run Bones bushings in my stage 11 159's with no issues. Both sets of trucks have 6 hole baseplates. No, I haven't measured the kingspins. I just know the Bones didn't really fit the 215's and do fit the 159's.

I feel like that may have been the case between Stage 10 and Stage 11...but man, that memory is just a wisp rolling around the back of my consciousness...no idea how true it is, or if it's just me making stuff up as I go along.

I do know that fresh Bones bushings need a touch of persuasion to fit onto Indy kingpins, and have needed that since Stage 8 if not earlier. But, once the bushings break in and get seated properly, they've always worked fantastic for me.

FWIW, Bones bushings fit perfect in my stage V 169's and there is quite a bit of extra kinpin length with Bones in my stage III 169's.

Yes, they made a limited run of forged "Downhill" baseplates with 6 holes that had longer kingpins, so you could fit a taller top bushing, to get more turning in a longboard application.

I have a couple sets of these baseplates & they work really well for that usage. Otherwise, the longer kingpin sticks up too much for pool grinding use.

They also work well with ACE hangers.
