...and some beers.
Did the 71.5 miles and took my boys to Boyce Park in Monroeville, PA mid-morning only to find a contest in the making….canopy with PA and MC, lots of goodies, etc. and a bunch of shredders. I was ready to go somewhere else as there is usually only 4-5 people there that time of the morning, and who can get a line in with so many skaters. Wasn’t expecting to stick around much past Noon but reluctantly entered the 30 and over. Every other class got 1 min individual runs but the 30 and over was a 5 min jam with everyone skating at once. There were 6 or 7 over 30, and I’m 53. I thought I had a pretty solid run as I did a lot of shit and only sketched 2x. All other classes were judged by points but over 30 was decided via crowd noise. I tied a guy for first and we spilt the winnings, I got a deck, sunglasses, and two warm 24oz Yuengling Lager cans. If the beer was only cold I’d’ve swilled one on the spot. The split decision didn’t help me that the other guy knew a lot of the skaters there. No big deal. I had a blast today, saw some crazy skating. |
