OK, so I'm pretty much a lazy sod when it comes to buying 'movies' online… paying $$ for a download isn't really my thing. then I thought, OK that's the way the world is turning nowadays and I wanted to purchase Santa Cruz' 'right to exist' video… yeah, several months late. Whatever. But at least in a legal way. Would've loved to have the old dogs like Salba and the new rippers like Winkowksi on one movie…
So I tried to buy the video via amazon. I was told that my computer wasn't able to receive the video in HD. Ok. I can live with that. Then I was told I couldn't purchase the video unless I had an address in the US.
OK, what's the point, folks at Santa Cruz?? You don't want to sell stuff?? Do I need to sign up with every shitty website until I've found the one that's offering a download to Europe (if there is such a thing)??? Well, screw you, I don't need your video then.
Just another annoying detail of the 'everything's-online-now-era'. tsss…
Folks @NHS : I have plenty of $$$ for your stuff. Nope, I HAD. Would've paid for DVD's of 'troops of tomorrow', 'big wheels, small pants', etc etc.
I'd been waiting for reissues of those for years.
I want it for free now. Will find it on youtube anyway.
As for your decks, well… garbage pail kids decks is exactly what it is. Garbage.
thanks for nothing… |

yeah sure. but that wasn't quite the point of my rant.
besides - I was speaking of the video, not the era.
not sure what i should expect of the video, I've never seen it except a clip or two. but it's got Dressen…Kendall… Andy fucking Roy! and more. I'd buy the DVD without blinking an eye.
plus, I think that period has its merits. sure, the 'mainstream' skate world (if there was such a thing) was fucked thanks to Rocco… but there were skaters out there that did their thing… pools… vert… and stuff like Burnside was born in that era! I like pics and videos of 'washed-up vert pros' (as Big Brother put it bitd) still doing their thing… it went underground, but it was there. |

It's actually Big Pants, Small Wheels (BPSW) and it is a fun watch.
I read it as a typo in your rant, hence my little joke.
My apologies, as you were. |
