Hello All,

Our boy is five this October and down the local curb he's taking an interest in skating. He wants to be pulled along and he generally fucks around with our decks while we're trying to get serious on the slappies. I think he needs his own board and I reckon for his size something around the size of a '60s Hobie Super Surfer would be good. I've been looking at what Blender has been doing with narrow trucks on Instagram and what he's riding here would be great (they're probably rollerskate trucks):

https://vimeo.com/167815823

I'm looking for trucks with 5" axles (narrower than an Ace 00)
A flat deck around 6" x 25"
52mm 78a wheels (think I can get these easily)

Does this sort of equipment exist? I know there's all these plastic cruisers but the fun is building something special as well as riding it!

Cheers!

IDK about little trucks but thanks for the Blender vid, sickness!!!! Good luck in your search. As far as boards go, I found a couple surfboard/60's skateboard shaped bamboo cutting boards in the size that you're talking about that I've bought drilled and turned into little cruzers, that might solve the board problem.

Yeah, that vid is cool, man. Thanks for the tip on the chopping boards; could work!

Some progress:

I got a friend to machine down a set of 101s to 68mm. Those are Powell flatback rollerskate wheels. The whole thing is 5 inches wide. Just need a 5" deck now!

That's awesome. When you can't find it... make it!

Ended up going plastic. A mate gave me this red deck and our boy couldn't wait for his lazy ass dad any longer.

Kryptonics deck, machined 68mm Indys, white Khiro bushings & Powell roller skate wheels.

Haha - I know, it's true. We're all shooting around on this little thing, though, it's wild!

Powell Peralta has mini completes for ~$100. Check online skate shops for mini decks or decks with a thin width / short wheelbase then get trucks and wheels to fit.

Nothing will make him happier than getting a board/graphic he wants. Have him check out at what you're looking at and get his opinion. You're a lucky Dad, and you got a lucky pup.

Our boy's now nine and rolling on a Real mini complete:

The best thing: mrs-g wanted a roll too and got hooked so she bought herself that Nora. I'm rolling on the Welcome Miller. We're all down the park together.
