Wanted to try making my own longboard for some time now, but just finally got around to it. I started with a piece of 50"x12" Baltic Birch I ordered from Eastbilt. Made a template, cut it out, routered and sanded the edges, some stain, poly, and crushed glass on top for grip. I set it up with some Indy's and OJ III's. Super smooth and comfy ride, especially with the really subtle flex the board has. Perfect for getting a little faded and just cruising. I might get some softer bushings though as I have the trucks really loose with the stock bushings. Overrall length is 42" by 8.5" with a 32" wheelbase. It was a blast making, now I want to make more, maybe with concave and kicktail.

First template I made had the board at 49" long, but I ended up cutting 7" off of it.

Thanks!

I work at a golf course, so this afternoon during my lunchbreak i took it out to some of our freshly paved cart paths and made some runs. They're really hilly with lots of highs and lows, fun as hell!

Hey I'm in the process of making a mini cruiser like the old school skateboards, what's the process of adding the grip with the poly, I'm gonna use sand and poly so how do I get the sand to stick on and how many coats of poly. good job on the board
