I am making a trade with someone for a used Mike conroy sma crystal ball deck for two of my pro models... Just wondering what the best way to go about it to make sure I don't get ripped off? Is there any way other than eBay to guarantee a safe trade?

You could use a proxy service but that would increase cost and double the shipping.

Neither ebay nor paypal can help you with a trade.

I have helped some guys in a similar matter and acted as their middleman.

I once did a very minor trade. I thought of it as a test case. I sent my stuff and got nothing in return. I won't do it with anything valuable. It was with a member who ended up getting booted, but had been here for quite awhile.

if you have to ask, then you probably shouldnt be trading.

ive been collecting skateboards for a while now. i have NEVER been massively ripped off in a trade. ie: a deck hasnt arrived. from time to time, decks havent been as promised, but that is like 3-4 in 15 years and hundreds of transactions.

i also have some basic rules to ensure this continues...
* never deal with people in dodgy countries. italy. spain. south east asia (except singapore). south america.
* always get tracking numbers.
* if you dont know the person, get them to prove their legitimacy. ie: their ebay ID, facebook, etc. (you can check their feedback)

any three of them can mitigate a fair amount of risk.

and relax.

It's just a kid I met over Instagram and we have been talking via phone... He claims his mom wanted me to send mine first but I wanted us to do it at the same time and get a tracking number. Seems kinda weird but could be ok. He is not a member here

oh yeah...

#4 never deal with kids
#5 never deal with people who refer to themselves as "we", or rely on other people (housemate/wife/husband/partner/mom/dad/random dude in the street) to physically send your parcel. cant get your lazy ass to the post office? i aint dealing with you then.
